Re: Six complete coats?
Mike,
Spraying the entire car with a 50% overlap would be one coat, and not two. I initially painted the car a few months ago, so I may have used more than a gallon of paint, but I can't really remember for sure.
Color sanding began to show primer in bright light, so I ordered another gallon. The gallon was enough to cover the car with 6 coats, but that does not include jams, wiper grills, headlamp covers, or under the decklid. I'm not color sanding those areas so they did not require more paint. Also, keep in mind that one gallon of paint makes a lot more sprayable product once mixed with the thinner.
