Working 62 clock--send it to the museum?

In October of 2004 I bought a 62 fuelie that had been sitting since the mid-70's when the guy damaged the motor. It was rode hard and put away wet many times. When I first put a battery to it, I heard a click, and the clock started working.
2 1/2 years later, that car is my daily driver, and the clock still works and keeps perfect time. (I've never had to adjust it.) By the context of the rest of the car, I know it was never sent out and repaired.(The car has original paint, interior, etc.)
This has to be a real freak--does anyone else have a clock that would rival this one in its reliability and length of service?
I thought that they were built to fail 12 months and 1 day after being put into service! (Or 12,001 miles, whichever came first)

Rev Mike, My clock and AM radio in my 63 have never been touched and both work perfect. Radio is clear as can be. Clock just needs a new lens as it is aged. But the thing works perfect. John

The wonderbar in this car works fine, too---just doesn't seek stations--but plays fine. Better hang on to yours, John--it's a rarity!

        Mike,

If you send it to the Museum it will not work when it gets there.

The clock in my '62 is perfectly accurate - twice a day!

The clock in my 62 couldn't keep time if it had to, been adjusted so many times I lost count. However the clock in my 64 is original with 87,000 miles and keeps perfect time and never been touched. Go figure!

Mine is like yours. The clock works perfect and the radio is good except the wonder bar. Also a 62 FI. It hasn't been treated very rough though. I'm owner number 2.

Mike: Mine is a '61 clock but it works perfectly. When I first got the Corvette, it did not work. I just cleaned it and it has worked ever since. By the way, you judged my '61 several years ago in Minneapolis at a chapter meet where you were a speaker.

I repaired & cleaned the one in my 59 (dated MAR 59), 20 years ago and still works fine, not counting battery cut-off time and winter storage. Put about 25,000 miles on the car since.

I just bought a restored original for my 62 project last week. Seller said tested on his bench for 3 days and ran accurately. I installed in my 59 to test it out. Heard a click of the solenoid, then ticking for a while. Checked it 10 minutes later and it was quiet! Gave the console a side fisted bang and it started ticking again, a few minutes later the click, then ticking then nothing. It figures!
