    C2 clutch

I have a '67 small block and was wondering if the clutch pedal height (above the floor) can be adjusted to more closely match the height of the brake pedal (car has power brakes)? It is nearly 2" higher than the brake pedal now, and very uncomfortable to shift.

No. Clutch pedal height is dictated by the stop on the pedal brace under the dash. If you had standard brakes both pedals would be at/near the clutch height.

      Keith -

Make sure the rubber bumper is in place - it determines clutch pedal height.

I thought I remember reading somewhere that the '67 had a 'quick-shift' adjustment that you could use to either shorten the throw of the shift linkage, or the travel of the clutch, I'm not sure which.

If you change the height, make sure you still have enough free play so you don't burn up the TO bearing.

            Keith -

67's had the shift linkage throw adjustment, but not the "quick-release" clutch linkage adjustment; '66 was the last year for the clutch linkage feature.

What quick release feature? Please elaborate
              I have a 66.

A little ingenuity might do the trick, as I did after I installed power brakes on my Cosworth Vega. The brake pedal ended up lower than the clutch pedal, and I always felt the clutch pedal had excessively long throw.

I lowered the clutch pedal height by using a hood bumper (I think I had to modify it a little with an Exacto knife) in place of the standard clutch pedal bumper, then adjusted the clutch to minimum freeplay spec, which is about a half inch, and with this amount of freeplay, engagement is about an inch off the floor.

Even though I did not change the actual mechanical ratio, the clutch feels much quicker and the throw is more suitable to my 32" inseam.

It's thoroughly explained in the 1963 Corvette Shop Manual. Check the clutch section of your '66 CSM.

With the clutch linkage set to the short travel, no female will want to drive your Corvette.

                      Phil -

The '67 clutch pedal bracket with the pin for the pushrod is welded solid to the pedal; the '66 and earlier bracket is bolted to the pedal, with two locations (regular and quick-release).

John for some reason I thought it was the other way around! Thanks Phil
