Re: Harry told you. Not Larry.

    Thanks for setting me straight.
Thank you Harry (sorry for the mis-print)
Making arrangements to get the radio dropped-shipped to be restored.
I like the buy-it-now feature on Ebay, which some sellers offer. That way it assures the purchase and avoids last minute nailbiting, but you will never know, if you could have had the product for less...
But the price I paid is not un-reasonable.

Re: Are You sure the car came with a radio

I am not sure, if the car came with a radio, or was "radio delete". The radio which was in the car when I bought it, was an AM/FM, the ident number inside the radio (Chev. mod # 985686) says, is a 63 radio. But since the JM says, and other members stated, that the FM radios where not installed till early 1963, I will install an AM "wonderbar" radio, since my car was assembled around dec 19, 1962..

Rainer you could check the antenna plate. Its a flat metal plate on the under side of the body under the antenna. The AM radios used a different plate than the FM radios. Phil 8063

Re: Are You sure the car came with a radio

              Phil,

Thanks for pointing-out, that there are different antenna mounting brackets.
I checked the JM, and clarified, that my car came with an AM radio (U65).
The re-enforcement plate for the AM does not have rivet holes, while the AM/FM plate is riveted to an addn. larger re-enforcement plate. Additionally, the ground strap for the AM is straight, as is mine.
By the engineering release dates it prooves to me, that my car came with AM, and the hardware is accordingly.
              I am all set now...
