Stingray Emblem C-3 3 posts or 4 posts?

All of what I see aftermarket is 3 posted on the reverse of the front fender emblem. Some have peel adhesive as well. As far as I can tell my 73 has 4 holes on each fender and posts going through each hole. The passenger side may have 3 posts protruding but, it is hard to see because of the blower motor. On a third car, a 73 that is being painted there are 4 holes each side. What is correct (ie 3 post or 4 post)and is it not possible to get the 4 posted emblem after market? I am painting another car and want to get the correct (4 post?) replacements. Anyone run into this trival problem? Thanks

The original on your 73 had four posts and they were long. The reproduction has three post that are shorter and had paint on all but the face. Their is a newer reproduction that is painted as original but I have not checked the posts. One post on the passenger side is hidden as you thought. NOS old emblems that are correct GM parts show up on E-bay some times but newer ones even GM are not correct.

Check with Trim Parts their reproduction is very close to the originals. Check and see a vendor for them they dont discount on direct orders can get better prices with some vendors. Paul

        Charles,

The original style emblems do show up on ebay occassionally, as I was in the hunt for 2 NOS ones that went thru the stratosphere on ebay.

Will the 3 post work in the 4 post configuration? (is the post configuration the same?) Also when attaching is it necessary to have the adhesive backing. I'm guessing yes since these did not have speed nuts. Thanks.

The three post will work with no problem. On some original emblems I have seen a round insert on the post when removed. I think they were used to hold the emblem. On a new painted Corvette the paint build up in the holes requires some fitting. If the holes are just made the right size the emblem is a press fit and can be removed for waxing the car. All original emblems had the adhesive backing.
