1980 power windows

Well I'm posting this for a friend at work that is having issues with one of his windows. It goes one way but not the other and my guess is a broken wire or the switch. He did change the motor and it didn't fix the problem.

Anyways, can I use the wiring diagram from my 69 or is the 80 schematic different? I thought mine was just wires, a switch and a motor but he thinks he has a relay in there somewhere on his 80. Any ideas?

Sounds like 'Bubba' is working this one...changed the motor and it didn't fix the problem!

The motors go up/down because the control switches reverse polarity on the DC motors. Feed positive voltage in one end and the motor winds this way. Feed positive voltage the opposite direction and the motor rotates the other way. That's why the switches have three terminals on them them...

On there being a relay, yep that's true. But, if the relay was burned, there'd be NO power to the windows at all. So, the fact that a window runs one way but not the other tells you either there's a bad connection between the pwr window switch and the motor or the control switch has failed...

Last, the same switch was used '68-82...
