    Re: Restoring Steering Wheels

    Hi Andy:

Believe it or not, our own Varooooom does work occasionally and one of the things he does better than anyone, (other than swear, drink and chase weomen), is restore C1 steering wheels. Absolutely outstanding work, who'da guessed.

      What do say Varooooom ?

Jerry says you restore C1 steering wheels. This is special one. I have had it 40 years. I would not trust it to just anyone. Are you interested?

        BUSINESS & DISCUSSION BOARD

What do I say? I say that the NCRS Discussion Board is representative of the NCRS organization, a non profit organization void of commercialism. I am told that we will someday have a commercial want-ad section of the board where services can be offered, parts offered for sale, and wants of NCRS members displayed. Until that time I must respectfully refrain from promoting the many services I offer and parts that I have available for sale. Oddly, it seems to be OK to post needs on Discussion Board without consequence.

I trust that the above statement will please the conservative element of our organization as will future posts originating at my work station.

        Respectfully,

        Dale Pearman

            REBUKED!

Thank you for your concern. It sems a couple of our members were offended by my characterization of the Mars Regional as one in which, "The drinks were great and the lap dances hard to beat!" Lacking the intellect to host a sense of humor they evidently lack character as well in voicing complaints anonimously. I welcome such complaints directly to me via e-mail. I am quite sympathetic to the feelings of others.

My attempts to have fun, like the NCRS was 15 years ago evidently are no longer in vogue. I am confused however. At Mars, six of you made a special effort to thank me for the entertainment and expressed a desire for a continuation of "off the wall" posts. I have received e-mails almost every day that are complimentary.

What do I do now? Stand up for free speech even if it is censored or yield to the conservative elitists by aping the official organization line? The safest thing to do is become a NERD and shut up!

I work on a volunteer basis with recovering alcoholics and the phrase "drinks were great and the lap dances hard to beat" is something said when describing the detox process. It's sort of an "inside" joke told by those completing the process. I've personally never seen a lap dance but understand that the're harmless. A far as alcohol is concerned, I VERY seldom endulge. It destroys brain cells and I need all I got left!

I hope to see a BUNCH of opinion on this issue.

Dale,I am hurt that you are hurt!I hope nothing I had said in my post about "where is varooom" was cause for offense.I do hope you and others have never taken offense from any of my posts, because I do like to have fun. That is why I am here!I feel as long as my 13 yr. old can read it,it should be ok for anyone. I guess we shouldn't stray to far from Corvettes in our talk, so I'll finish with "small blocks forever".

Re: All this over restoring a steering wheel

Man can you imagine what would have happened If I had asked about replacing the whole front clip. May be we need to start a NCVS National Corvette Varooooom Society. Seriously Thanks guys, for all you help.

Dale and all-Dale,your humor is not offensive to me.We are or should be adults,if you don't enjoy a particular posters slant on Corvettes and life don't click on their posts anymore.Too many have become a little to thin skinned about humor. Lou P.S. Looking forward to meeting you at Bloomington.

Dale.... last time i looked each post had a name on it. If someone does not want to benefit from your knowledge , or share your humor dont click on it. keep up the good work. theres nothing wrong with having fun and learning. And any one who has not had the pleasure of judging with or being judged by Dale has missed an experience.

                        Humor and the Bored...Board

As one who finds all this humor particularly disturbing I would like to see this board, ( "discussion board" ) dedicated solely to boring technical information only. I feel that the NCRS has evolved to a point where humor is no longer necessary and should be avoided at any cost, even increased membership. If we censor ourselves carefully maybe we can reach zero population growth within the next decade, a goal we can only hope to attain.

                            Reverend,

I come to this board to learn and help where I can. And I believe there should be professional and ethical standards in every organization.

I also enjoy a chuckle or two and look forward to reading your posts. In fact I dial in sometimes just to follow a Varooooom storyline to lift my spirits. It adds color to the board.

I'm sure the good Reverend would agree that we are all only human. We learn new things everyday and test the limits as engrained in our pioneering sole. And we learn that everything is life should be done in moderation.

Just as you, I am an NCRS Member who respects the opinions of others. And I agree that posts should be for the betterment of the National Corvette Restorers Society. At the same time, I enjoy a little color because I am pretty boring on my own.

                            Professionally and respectfully yours,

                            Mr. Johnson

                              JERRY IS ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!!!

                              Dear Bored...er, Board,

Jerry is absolutely right, and I have learned my lesson; NO MORE HORSEPLAY while waitin' for NEW CUSTOMERS TO COME IN THE DOORS. The image is unbecoming to an professional organization of middle-aged and elderly retired guys (and young ladies) living out their youthful fantasies.

We should have learned how to act professionally when we worked at our after-school jobs in high school. No more wasting NCRS resources. Those who know anything, and we know who they are, should ANSWER THE QUESTIONS. The rest of us dumb-nuts should SHUT THE HECK UP AND LEARN!!!. In fact, I think John should set it up where only "Team Leaders" can answer questions; The rest of us wannabees deserve to be "locked out" from posting. ZZZZZZZ

                              Chuck Sangerhausen

P.S. Jerry, it is too late for me to censor myself; I already have three "indiscretions", and they are now beginning to have "indiscretions" of their own. I have also been an irresponsible citizen of the planet.
