327 Cubic inch engine

Hi ,
I'm hoping someone can help me in identifying the year of this engine. 327 cubic inch
Engine block casting no. 3849852, under this number the clock points to number 3.
1- What kind of seal is at the rear main of the crankshaft? Part # ?
- A cord type?
- or a 2 piece rubber seal ?

2- I am also looking for the part number of the re-seal kit for the Transmission which should include;

side cover gasket, front cover gasket, 2 x rear cover gasket, 2 x seals, 3 x O-rings for the shifter linkage.

Unless Mortec is wrong, it's a 283 used in '64-65, two piece seal. You don't say if you are talking 3 or 4 speed, Muncie or BW four speed, but most any parts houls can get the gasket set, or they are available via eBay regularly.

Ray, It is not a 327 engine. 3849852 is a 283 block, "DE" code is 195 hp with Powerglide, out of a 1965 or 1966 Chevelle. Small journal block wih 2 piece rear main seal. The casting date is on the opposite side from the block casting number. Dave
