Got To Look At The Bright Side

    Jeff,

Cheer up! Like Duke says, its only the FIRST year.

Third/fourth finish in GTS, and tenth/eleventh overall ain't shabby at all. To me, what was impressive is the consistency of the C5R TEAM effort; the cars, pit crews, and drivers delivered consistent performance that was not quite good enough (yet) to beat ALL those German snakes, but they were right there with the leaders, and they were TOGETHER.

You have to remember that there were about six (?) Snakes in the race, and the C5Rs skinned all but two of them. Previous attempts by private parties, bless their hearts, could not even get the Corvettes qualified.

Wait till next year. I hope GM maintains the commitment to WIN, drops that sluggard LMP, and pours the resources into the Corvette team.

      CHUCK IS RIGHT!

Yeah! Actually, compared to past efforts this year's race is a big improvement. I too hope GM will continue in it's efforts to field a winning Corvette. Rome wasn't built in one day! Just finishing a LeMans is one hell of a success!

Agreed. Maybe 8 liters and working brakes will...

        ...trickle down to street cars...

            Come-on, George!

Magazines have had shootouts between vintage BBs and C5s. Even in a straight line the C5s run a better quarter mile. Granted, the vintage cars had repro bias ply tires, but I don't think you can get enough modern tire under a Shark to be competitiive even in a straight line with an engine anywhere near production configuration, and in a couple of weeks you'll be able to read about the 2001 Z06 Hardtop that has more net power than any production BB ever built with the possible exception of an L-88. It's gonna post zero to sixty in the low fours and a quarter mile time in the twelves with a skidpad reading of over one g. I hear that Jeff might even have one on order to improve his Viper kill ratio.

Duke, you're RIGHT! Not only is the ZO6 gonna be a Big Block killer but it's gonna smash snakes as well. I thinkin about how one would look in my garage next to the 62!

                          RIGHT ON My Man!

YES YES YES! How did you know? My FAVORITE film. I've been a sellers fan since 1960. I'd give my NOS whatever to have a copy of, "Waltz of the Toreadors", where Sellers leads an ill-fated invasion on Long Island. This movie is an anacronisim (time-warp thing) where he comes from a country existing 300 years behind Long Island time. BEING THERE is where I fell in love with the "I like to watch" thing!

Also, another favorite is Mel Brooks' "Blazing Saddles" where the town meeting has Howard Johnson (1 flavor at the time) making statements for the defense of the town. One of the townsfolk repeatedly makes the statement, "Howard Johnson is Right!" in response to each Howard Johnson statement. It's a natural to transpose that form of speech to Discussion Board.

                          Thanks for the post!

Not to worry? Plenty to worry....

with the little mousy motor, the C-5 stands NO chance against the Viper's

                            BIG BLOCK

Now if GM ever decided to put in a 454 or the 502 marine engine, watch out, a genuine Viper Killer.

BTW my vanity plates are VIPR ETR

Don't you mean you're a fan of selling?

...Peter Sellers slays me. I am not a big movie fan but the only thing my folks and I ever agreed on was that "A Shot in the Dark" is the funniest movie ever (with "The Producers" a close second).

As for film highlights, the interaction between Dennis Hopper and Dean Stockwell as he lip-synchs Roy Orbison with the droplight as microphone in "Blue Velvet" is the all-time high-water, 60 seconds ever filmed.
