I was looking at a Delco replacement AC Dryer p/n 1#03046235 on ebay and need to know if this is the correct one for fit my 65 dryer brackets. I read somewhere that some replacement Dryers are smaller in diamater. Thanks

Re: Replacement AC Dryer info needed
Dennis,
Just a FYI....are you staying R12 or converting to R134A? If you don't already know, if you convert to R134A, you need to replace the expansion valve with one compatible also. I don't know where of if they exist just wanted you to know.
We have a 72 XKE V12 with air(sorry guys wifes' car I'm just the mechanic) and uses the GM A6 compressor. After I rebuilt the compressor(bad shaft seal), I was going to convert from R12 to 134A but my very knowledgable AC guy here stopped me just in time. The orifice is a different size for the 134A which has a different molecular structure. He tells me that it'd work but won't be as efficient. There is no upgraded exp valve available for it so I opted to stay with R12. Now getting 32 deg F at the vents at idle, which is really important in a coupe that gets very hot inside, especially with a black interior.

Re: Replacement AC Dryer info needed
Dennis:
The GM part number for 1963-1967 Corvette ac driers is #3155342, which corresponds to Delco #15-1244. The GM part number for 1968-1972 Corvette ac driers is #3012944 or #3046236, which correspond to Delco #15-1240. One drier does not fit all 1963 to 1972 Corvettes as the E-bay ad indicates. At least one difference is the thread size of the inlet and outlet fittings between the mid-years and the sharks.
According to the AC Delco website, the GM #3046235 drier that you are looking at corresponds to a Delco #15-1244, so it should work for your 1965 application. However, this is a second design drier and the configuration is different than the original. The best thing is to request the seller to provide you with the drier diameter and compare it with your original drier or your drier brackets. This way you will know for certain.
The Delco #15-1244 driers are still available from Delco as well as many of the Corvette parts suppliers at similar prices. If you still have your original drier, it can be rebuilt with new dessicant by Classic Auto Air in Florida or Old Air Products in Texas.
The dessicants used in the newer Delco driers and in the rebuilt driers are suitable for either R-12 or R-134a.

Rich
I never had any problems with converting from R-12 to R-134 and using the same Expansion valve. The POA valve needs to be readjusted, drier replaced and compressor oil changed but thats about all there is to it.
