    What size rallys 1970

I have 4 rallys with a AZ code that came with a 70 I just bought. Is this the correct wheel for the car?. If not what is the correct width for the wheel? Thanks in advance. Chris

Don't mention it, it's not too often I can actually answer a question, normally I do all the asking! Steve

Kelsey Hayes wheels are original to the 1970 Corvette. The wheels were also date coded like most of the components of the car. The date code appears on the rim on both sides of the valve stem opening.

Example: K-1-1 (valve stem hole) 12AZ

          Decoded: K=Kelsey-Hayes; 1=wheel plant (Romulus,MI); 1=production year (1971)

          Valve stem hole

12=day of month wheel was produced; AZ=broadcast code application (Corvette 15X8"

          Hope this helps you further.

Thanks again for the quick response. I measured the wheel and it is 9 inches from outside to outside and 8 inches from inside (where lip of tire goes) to inside. I assume the 8 inch measurement is the inside of rim. Right? Thanks

For a 70, all you need to know is the AZ if you're not worried about the dates. As Steve said, they are 15" X 8" by definition. By the time you finally get a tire mounted on them, those honkers will look about a foot wide...must make a C2 owner envious.

Wheels are identified by their inside (wheel width) measurement. Overall width is always one inch wider. For example: A 15 X 8 measures 8" bead-to-bead and 9" overall.
