    Where's RAY?

Where's RAY? (I know he's in Florida). Do we need to get him a Lap Top / Note Book? I need my accessory (fix) story.

        Re: Where's RAY?

Yes Roy is in sunny Florida, Marathon Island in the keys. He posted when he was leaving a while ago, staying 3 weeks. He said he was going jet-skiing and to have fun at the beach.

I've been under serious "Roy's posts of info & photos" withdrawal since he left, axiously waiting for his return.......

I too am missing Roy's posts. I was thinking of posting a picture of a bubble top just to get everyone's blood presure up again.

Hey Dennis, How's the wife's '65 Jag running? Have you raced her in one of your Corvettes yet? My wife in her '72 v12 raced me home in my '59 the other night coming back from a cruise night. I won't tell you who won!

Mikie/Dennis, You guys want me to handcuff him down here in Florida for a while? :-) He's not that far from me.

                          Hope she whipped your butt...

My wife's E is actually a '63 and I have been quite impressed with its performance for an inline 6 cylinder offering. Several years back we owned and enjoyed a Jag V12 sedan. Quite the cruising vessel. I think my '62 Corvette might stay with or beat the 6 cylinder E, but I wouldn't want to bet my butt on staying with a 12 cylinder XKE offering... Just my thoughts. Best, Dennis

...I thought the Restorer article said it was a '65....must've been a typo. So it's the 3.8L XK engine, yes very responsive. The V12 is a 5.3L, 326ci at about 300hp using 4 Zenith Strombergs. My 59 with the dual Carters is only 270hp by comparison.

Yep, she did whip my butt, but not off the line. The V12 is sluggish there, but after a short time it is like a rocket. Driving that car on the highway is scarey. At 70mph spinning at about 3500rpm it talks to you. It says, "c'mon, what're you doing, lets go!" It is absolutely amazing. You put your foot into the accelerator at 70mph and the engine is at it's best. Without even downshifting, it is startling. The torque at the high end is incredible. You are propelled forward, shooting ahead like a rocket, watching the rearview mirror objects behind you rapidly dissapear.
