Looking for any info good or bad on the reproduction 1965 Bumper Grills. The fact that they cost $440 I would like to know what I'm buying before I drop that much coin. Thanks

If you are talking about the front grill, Corvette Central has sold the reproduction for many years. To my knowledge they judge just fine. I have had two cars with these grilles go thru the judging process with no deductionsDick Whittington- Top

Re: Anyone bought a Repo 65 Bumper Grill
Dennis, In 1966 if you wrecked your 1965 Corvette and needed a grill from Chevrolet do you know that you received a 66 Grille??? One thing I haven't heard about with our NCRS gurus concerning 65's is that in very late 65 there were a bunch(?) of 65's made with 66 grilles. I saw two on them on the delivery truck. THe owner of the Chevrolet dealership Sam Grabiak, Jr of Grabiak Chevrolet pointed out to me that the two new 65's did in fact have 66 grilles.I asked a dumb question like well how do you know they are 66 grilles. He took me into his office and showed me pics of the 66's. Remember it well. John- Top

Re: Anyone bought a Repo 65 Bumper Grill
John. My July 29, 1965 Corvette (3rd to last day of production) has a '66 grille. It's in pretty crummy shape, but I'm probably going to replace it with a '65 repro grille only because I don't want to have to defend it during judging.

Re: Anyone bought a Repo 65 Bumper Grill
Tony, You are the first to ever say that. The dealer that showed me the 65's on the car hauler is still alive. Friend of Clem Zahrobsky. Trouble is his memory is failing. He says I remember more than he does. Well I will ask him if he remembers this small detail. Surely others in NCRS land suspect that the late 65's used 66 grilles. Or a better word is could of used 66 grilles. Not typical I realize. But it sure did happen. So lets hear it. I can feel for you not wanting to send up a flag for the judges. But if it was my car and it was as late as yours I would leave the grille in no matter what a judge said. John D.- Top

Re: Anyone bought a Repo 65 Bumper Grill
John, It wouldn't surprise me at all. Don't forget the engineering unwritten rule was, if it didn't effect the 3 "F's",form, fit, or function it was possible.
I would bet that a production change like that would have been generated by an Engineering NPC, Notice of Production Change. Unfortunately, my NPC's are about 1500 miles north of me and I will not see them until April. If you are interested, remind me then and I will have a look-see.
