    '66 400 to 390HP transisiton

How can you tell when and how this was implemented? Would it be consistant via VIN? or engine assembly date? or vehicle assembly date? Or a combination?

The reason I am asking is that I noticed there was a post that stated in Noland Adams' book there is a documented 400hp car with a VIN of 5673. There is also a reference to VIN 3545 in the third week of October. I have been told that the change occurred in early to mid October 1965. Clearly there is something amiss since the documented car is more than 2000 numbers later than a car assembled after the transition was supposed to have occurred.

Can anyone shed some light on this?
