Does anyone know how to find out what a car came with from the factory other than the tank or under dash or glove compartment sticker? I only found the tank sticker on mine but it is in bad shape. You can bearly read the top and the bottom is discingrated. Is there also a company that checks previous owner and history like carfax.com? Thankyou in advance. Eric

Re: INDIVIDUAL CORVETTE HISTORY
You don't mention what year car you have but from your email address it looks like a '72.
If the tank sticker is too far gone to get the data but you can still see the dealer info, you might want to try the original dealer to see if they have any records. The other choices are talking with previous owners and of course locating the original window sticker.
Since production records no longer exist for your car, unless it was originally shipped to a dealer in Canada, I don't think any of the services will be able to help you.
It sounds like your tank sticker is beyond recovery but if you think it is possible, you might try scanning it. I think someone on this forum recently suggested scanning the tank sticker and then enhancing the image with a software package such as Photoshop. They said they had good results and were able to read information that was not readable from the original. Of course this has the advantage of allowing you to print a copy of your work.
You might also try taking what you have of the tank sticker to a document restoration service. Your local library may be able to recommend someone for this.- Top

Re: INDIVIDUAL CORVETTE HISTORY
There is only option that you can be completely sure of without paper work. 1972 was the first year that the VIN contained an engine code, which is designated by the fifth character. Like Mike I am going to assume that yours is a 454. In that case, the letter should be "W."- Top
