    Keeping the existing gear and obtaining a speedometer adapter appears to be a good solution. Any thoughts where to find one. Here in Connecticut we don't have any speedometer service places.

      Oh, I think that there must be some there, somwhere. I would think that the large cities would have one. Look in the yellow pages under speedometer service. Delco shops often have the name "Speedometer-Electric Service" or "Speedo-Tach". However, any competent speedometer shop should be able to handle this type of thing. This is about as basic as it gets.

          Joe, I may have found an adapter gear GM #15635469 (1.1111 ratio adapter). The question is do I want a lower ratio gear or higher ratio gear. The local Chevy dealers think the 1.111 is correct but there not sure. It sounds correct. I want to speed up my speedo so increase the ratio. Also I called a LOT of car dealers today to find a speedometer service shop in CT. NO luck.
