Joe, an acquaintance of mine has a very original virtually unmolested 61 fuelie which has the PCV system installed. It appears to be original. However, since he was not the original owner, who can really say.

Joe - PCV systems were required all cars by federal regulation beginning in 1963, and it's my understanding that California required them beginning on 1961 models for all cars sold new in the state. The fact that they had a RPO code and are listed in the AIMs give credence, plus the anecdotal evidence of their installation on actual cars.

I also think there was a move to retrofit them to pre-'61 cars in seventies or eighties, but I'm not sure if it ever became law.

            Duke-----

According to the California Air Resources Board (CARB), the requirement for crankcase emissions control devices was adopted by the "California Board of Air Sanitation (apparently, a predecssor agency to CARB)in 1961, but it was effective beginning with the 1963 model year.

I now don't doubt, at all, that 61 and 62 models in California had them, but I don't understand why.
