I just wanted to say thanks to all who posted to my questions about my 77 L-82 starter and brake caliper questions. I was able to remove my starter, although it was a bit more tricky than I thought (headers), and take it to autozone for testing. They confirmed that it was bad (pulling about 300 amps) so I bought a rebuild kit for it and installed everything last night. The car started right up with no grinding at all.
As for the brakes, I ended up going with the Stainless Steel brakes. I was going to use Corvette Stainless Steel brakes but I found a local vendor for Stainless Steel and saved the $60 for shipping both ways. If anyone needs brake calipers, the guys at Corvette Stainless Steel are really nice and willing to work with you.
Anyhow, now the car goes and stops excellent. Next step is a big purchase from Vette Brakes and Products for suspension items!
Thanks again to all who helped with posts and e-mails, your information was absolutely invaluable.
Sincerely,
Russ Fulks
