I drove a friend's 96 vette today and the driver's electric door lock would unlock when driving over a bump and especially while turning. He says that the security system will also go off for no apparent reason. My thought is that there may be a limit switch(of sorts) inside the door lock mechanism (maybe driver or passenger door)that indicates the status of the door lock knob. If that switch is closing intermittantly, it could cause the symptoms described. I know that other manufacturers use this type of a limit switch.
Is someone familiar with the door lock mechanism and/or has this problem already been recognized for the 96 vettes.
