    Re: Oil Filler Cap

    Gary-----

Well, if you decide to look for an NOS example, you'll be looking for a VERY long time and you'll still come up "dry". The original oil filler cap used on 67 427s (except L-89), GM #3856959, was a PRODUCTION-only piece; it was NEVER available in SERVICE. For SERVICE, GM offerred cap GM #3835665. This cap is configured somewhat differently than the PRODUCTION cap and it has a plain steel finish. So, even if you found one of these, you'd be a long way from what you want.

You could look for a used cap, but most will likely not be in a condition that you'd want to use. Plus, the gasket will likely be deteriorated and the stock, paper-type gasket is not replaceable on these caps. My recommendation? Go reproduction; it's the best thing out there.
