I'm trying to add optional shoulder belts to my L79 67' roadster but the reinforcement plates in the rear wheel wells are not there. I am getting them from Paragon but the placement is unclear. Any guidence on where to fix them would be appreciated. Also the best way to secure the rivets so they have the original look?? Is their a recommended tool for installing them? I have air tools , is their a special bit?? Thanks !!! Mike Arteaga #34566

Re: 67' shoulder belts
Mike - I'm curious about no shoulder harness plates. My car #1476 has the plates so I figured they were standard. It's a St. Louis car. I'll be glad to get measurements this weekend if no one responds before then. Pete- Top

Noland's 1967 survey indicated that the A85 reinforcements were randomly installed on non-A85 cars, with (most) base-engine cars not getting them, in spite of the fact that the reinforcements are shown in the base car portion of the A.I.M. (UPC 1 Bolt/Weld, Sheet B1, item #11). My base-engine '67 built in June doesn't have them either.- Top

Re: 67' shoulder belts
Mike - Because inquiring minds want to know, here goes. Info is for the driver side and the reference points are on the top of the frame above the center of the rear wheel. There should be a countersunk hole and an oval hole about 4" center to center apart on the top of the frame at the high point. The countersunk hole is forward of the oval hole. The rear edge of the reinforcement assembly for the shoulder harness bolt attachment lines up with the front edge of the oval hole on the top of the frame. Using that location, the top single rivet appears to line up with the rear edge of the countersunk hole depression as another reference, but once you make the initial line up and placement, the reinforcement plate will be your template. Obviously, it's the mirror image for the passenger side. I thought I might be able to get a picture but the reinforcement assembly is up in there where the sun doesn't shine, so I didn't do it. I know someone else offered, hopefully they could get one. Hope the information helps and good luck on the installation. Pete- Top
