1971 power steering

on our 71 LS5 .. the car is always harder to turn (steer) when you turn to the left then to the right .. the car was had new tires, new power steering componenets (all except the cylinder), full alignment (again), all the steering linkage checked .. the car steers normally when driving straight or turn right but whenever you turn that wheel to the left you feel more resistance .. not a bind just more resistance

Dale & Abigail,

I suggest you try to re-balance the Power Steering Control Valve (PSCV).
The procedure is outlined in the Service Manual.

Basically, you disconnect the slave cylinder rod from the frame, remove the dust cap on the end of the control valve. Now, with the engine running, turn the nut in one direction until the rod moves either in or out, then in the opposite direction until the rod moves in the other direction, finally, adjust the nut halfway in between those two points. At this point, you should be able to move the rod in/out by hand.
