I am working on a 59 that shows a lot of sighns of having been a factory FI car. It realy make no difference, the car is so heavily modified it would take a fortune to restore it to factory configuration. But, I am curious just the same.
The car has the mounting holes for the FI air cleaner, top and bottom, and they look original. It also has the holes for the fresh air hose clamps, and the radiator support screw holes have no threads. The horn relay is located below the fresh air hose indent. All these items point to a fuelie. There is NO hole in the firewall for a tach drive cable. Also the original tach has long ago been replaced by an electric one, so there are no clues there. It is my understanding that if it had been a 250HP FI, it would have been a generator tach drive, but that it also would have not had the freesh air hose. BTW, the car was not equipped with windshield washers, so that clue is not existant.
The VIN tag is missing, so I don't know if it is an early or late car. It does have some brackets under the outer window reveal mouldings that are supposed to be for 58 and earlier, so I'm SPECULATING it may be an early production 59.
