    Off-topic: lost my cookies

My son just loaded Windows XP on my computer and it won't maintain my preferences. Have any of you suffered this problem and are computer literate enough to know how to reset the system so that it will hold my preference?

    Thanks,
    Gary

Don't have Windows XP but do have Windows 98 and this is how its done there. Click on Tools, now click on Internet Options. At the top now click on Security. Click on custom level, nothing else. Now you can scrool on this to Cookies. Select which selection you want, either stored or (not stored). Now select your preference of "enable" or "prompt". Next step is important, go to the bottom and click on only "OK". Now click on "yes" to the warning question. Now just to to the top right and click on X to close out and you should have it set.
