    C3 Alternator

I have a 1969 with a 10-SI alternator with internal regulator. I was changing the alternator when the plastic clip holding the wires leading to terminals 1 and 2 on the alternator came off in my hand. I have looked at wiring diagrams and read the manuals, and I am 95 percent sure that the ASW 10 red wire goes to terminal 2 and the ASW 20 brown wire goes to terminal 1, but would like to be 100 percent sure before I put them on.

Any help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Have a 70 and just looked at the wires going into the connection. The brown wire is on the left and the black wire with white stripe is on the right when viewed from behind the alternator on the drivers side beside the master cylinder.

From a 10SI circuit diagram in my '74 Vega shop manual, the hot wire is on termimal two and without checking my Cosworth Vega I'm quite certain that the red wire is the hot circuit - shows voltage with the ignition off. The other circuit is switched through the ignition and this should be the brown wire.

You can verify by running voltage checks with the igntion off.

I just read your posting and checked my 69. The red wire goes to the inboard side (engine side) of the terminal. The AIM has a good picture of the layout.
        Hope this helps.
