    Re: Bars Leaks

i think it is in the heater core line to cut down on the noise of the water rushing thru the heater core. they had the same noise in the PU trucks because there was a TSB on it.

      Re: Bars Leaks *TL*

Sorry Jim - mis-spellings are the bane of late-night postings. Try flow restriction.
Not sure what its purpose is, but when it gets clogged there is a waterfall like sound that Clem describes below. The B-body internet scuttlebutt has it that the purpose is to slow down the flow of coolant through the heater core for increased heat transfer, but I am skeptical that is the reason.

i will check the GM tech website to see if the older TSB are still listed and try to find out the reason for the restriction.

Aren't those B bodied cars reverse flow?

            Re: Bars Leaks

So overall it sounds like a slight coolant ooze at the waterneck gasket could safely and successfully fixed with Bars Leak instead of resetting the gasket?

Yes, all the recent LT1s (B, D, F and Y bodies) are reverse coolant flow design.

                Clem,
I think it was in a jar. It was a year or so ago. Really made me think twice about using again. I suspect vehicle did not recirculate it real well when I put it in. Maybe not hot enough.
