    Carter AFB Rebuild Screw Up

Well, I think I really did it this time. In tearing down my series 9000
Carter AFB, I tried to remove the "disks" from the rod that goes through the
carb body (the disks that flip open and closed under the primaries and
secondaries). They are held in place with 2 brass (?) screws each. The ones
under the secondaries came out w/o a problem, permitting the removal of the
rod from the body. disaster struck on the primary side - screw snapped off
after coming out about two turns. Does anyone know a source for these screws,
or for a replacement rod if I have to drill out the piece that's still in
    there?

Thanks for any and all suggestions. I've never rebuilt a carburetor before
and I am beginning to regret it.

          Mark,
I'm in the same boat as you but being addicted to EBAY as I am I bought a guinea pig Carter AFB to take the brunt of my rebuild "skills" before I attack my original. Its not a Corvette carb but is physically similar save the choke and hey, it was $35!

My point: check EBAY - I've seen misc. Carter AFB parts - Includ ing the throttle plates, screws, and shaft as you describe. I haven't opened my test carb yet. Let me know how it goes and good luck!

            You'll find...

the Chicago Corvette catalog has probably the LARGEST selection of off-the-shelf parts for Carter WCFB and AFB carbs (probably a full 3-4 pages of NOTHING but individual Carter carb parts listed). Check 'em out....
