    Ed,

Where'd you go?? Did all this discussion scare you away?? 215/70R15 will work for you just fine.

      Duke,

Sorry. you haven't convinced me. Circumference is circumference. You still haven't explained how it changes. In my opinion, all of your references about "radius" are red herrings.

At this point I, frankly, don't care if your not convinced. but I think most TDB viewers will understand my explanation, which is the same that any experienced tire engineer would offer.

The 670 x 15 tires on my original 62 340 hp lasted less than 3 months ( 19 yr/old & having fun )...clutch not far behind

The 195's up front and 215's in back will give you the old California rank. It is widely agreed that 225's up front are a little too big, but lots of opinions about how big the back tires can be. I run 245x60x15 on the back of my 62. It is your car so do what YOU want and enjoy it. The web sites I sent you were merely tools to help you decide which way to go. I never said or implied they were the gospel. The longer you are a member of NCRS the more you will realize that there are a lot of good people here willing to help you with whatever the problem, then there are those anal retentive ones that have to impress on you how smart they are and be exactly correct. It is up to you to decide which way to go. Welcome to the club and may you enjoy your car for years to come.

I am leaning toward 195 front and 215 rear, yes i like that Ca. rank since the car already has front lift of about 4 in now. The people before me put it in and i am leaving it.

It depends how the current rake is effected. If they used "twist-in" coil spring spacers I wouldn't leave those on the car for love-nor-money.

                      Ed,

If we knew about the 4" beam (gasser setup) on your car in your initial post you might have received totally different type of responses. When you asked in your original post what was the correct tire size for your '62, I'm sure all here "assumed" you had a stock front end on your car and that's what the responses were based on...that's obviously not the case. With that type of front end setup you're not going to get that California rake that you're looking for...IMHO.

                        Ed,

This wouldn't by any chance be a purple car out of Minnesota, would it? I knew a "fringe" type of guy there that had a '62 with this same set up 25 years ago. I tried to get it from him, but he wouldn't let it go. Lost track of him and the car about 10 years ago.
