Re: Dead nuts correct paint codes, 63??
The rule on this is defined on page 15 of the 8th edition of the JRM item 7. The baseline rule is this:
"A judge must not be involved in the judging decision process of a car that he/she has knowingly restored, bought, sold, worked on, or has monerarily benifited from involment with."
Discussion then follows regarding the informing the team leader when the occasion does come up as Terry describes. Consquences for a judge who ignores this rule are serious.
At the chapter level this is especially problematic in that chapter members often help one another with restorations and then are in a bit of quandry when it come time to judge the car. I've discussed this with our National Judging Chair David B and described the type of work performed by chapter members and the fact that there was no money involved. At least in my case, he was willing to allow our a couple of our chapter members to judge areas of the car they did not work on.
I appreciate Terry's insight on this topic too. This is supposed to be a FUN hobby. Like any successful organization though, there is a need to have a play book and follow the rules.
