    Interesting 73 trim tag

The car is advertised on Ebay as an original 73 black car.

Here is a link to the Ebay ad, and a picture of the trim tag.

    Thoughts?

    Re: Interesting 73 trim tag

I ordered a 73 coupe in Oct of 72 and wanted the optional aluminum wheels and black paint. I am not sure how hard my small town dealer tried but I was eventually told that neither item was going to be available. I took delivery on may 23 1973, so I waited as long as possible. After seeing how my white car was painted,I had few regrets about not getting black. I still like the aluminum rims, but like the look of the P02 caps I ordered instead. I still own the car and I believe I have the correspondence concerning the unavailable options. My dealer made an attempt possibly the dealer that ordered the convertible succeeded. Hope this helps.

The paint number on the trim tag is the same as I have on a known black 73 build sheet.

I saw a black 73 that was going to Pierce Chevrolet in Pawtucket RI. when I worked at the rail yard in Framingham where we unloaded new GM cars

Not ruling out that the tag isn't an original, or that the car isn't possibly one of the presumed 30 Black 73's that left the factory, but it just seems odd that there is no mention of any documentation i.e. Build Sheet, substantiating the color in the eBay listing. Also the dealer states that it is possibly one of the only black 73's to leave the factory. Surely a vette dealer would have read in the black book about the 30 possible black cars. Also looking closely at the door ajar switches, they appear to have black paint on the nuts. Could be rust though, just appearing like black paint in picture.
If in deed it is legit it really is a special car. It does look really nice and very well cared for.
