The AC Delco lower radiator hoses (24946L) for a 1975 small block comes without a spring. The description makes it sound like it is not required. Does this seem right?

Re: Lower Radiator Hose
Yes, most of the new replacement radiator hoses are designed such that they don't need a spring.Vice-Chairman (West), Michigan Chapter NCRS

Re: Lower Radiator Hose
Richard------
You MIGHT get a hose with a spring if you obtain a GM hose. GM hoses and ACDelco hoses are usually NOT the same even though ACDelco is part of GM. I have compared quite a few GM hoses to ACDelco hoses for the same application and they are NOT the same. Of course, they're of similar configuration but there's otherwise a difference if you examine them closely.
The hose originally used for your application is GM #355347 and it's still available from GM. Does it still have the spring? That I do not know.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Lower Radiator Hose
The spring inside the lower hose may not be necessary, but if you get the "correct" GM part # hose, it does have a spring. You can see my upper / lower fan shroud replacement and radiator / heater hose replacement project step by step post.- Top
