I'm in the process of replacing the turn signal switch on my '72, Std. column by the way. Any tips on guiding the wires and plug through the column?? Seems like a monumental task, I hope I'm missing something. Thanks!!

Re: Turn signal switch advice needed
Tom, turn the switch connector sideways and use a long flat blade screwdriver to push the switch down the through the upper and lower bowls, there is a groove on the switch the blade fits into.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: Turn signal switch advice needed
The protective sleeve can be installed from the bottom after the harness is routed through. the column mounting bracket is also removed to make it easier for the harness to be route and the sleeve install, I have not used the a string method its a little tricky anyway you do it.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: Turn signal switch advice needed
I tied a string to the old harness when I pulled it out of the column so I would have something to work with when installing the new one back down through the column. I also removed the plastic sleeve each way to make it easier to take out the old harness and install the new harness. Just be sure to label where each wire goes so you've got the right connections when re-attaching wires to the plastic sleeve once you've snaked the new harness back down through your column!

Re: Turn signal switch advice needed
Thanks Randy, Truth be told I git frustrated and just pulled the plastic sleeve out after doing battle with it for a while. Once the sleeve was out I could see that the connector was hung up on something. A VERY long screwdriver helped me move over a bit and out it came. Thanks!!- Top
