I ordered my battery in May but figured it would be a while since the National was coming up. I called back late July and actually talked to someone who said they had the order and it would ship in 4-5 weeks. Nothing came. Called again in September and got a VM but no return call. Then I see the charge showed on my CC. I called Citibank and told them it was a bogus charge and to cancel it. If there only a 12 pt deduction for using the Delco group 24 battery and the possibility of 7pts for one of these then I'm going to bite the bullet and just get the Delco. This is rediculous.

Here are two photos I took. Should have taken pix before I installed it.

It's dated 3CV.. 63, March, Olathe KS.

This battery died within 2 days. Called and called. Finally got hold of someone.

I returned it to them on "my dime". Cost me $51.00 to send it back. They were going to send a UPS "will call" tag... that never arrived.

LONG story short.. about 4 days ago, Oct. 4, I received my replacement battery along with a $51.00 refund check.

It's installed, and so far is "holding" it's voltage of 12.71.

The one I got in July was "down" to 10.8 or so within a few days... with no load on it..

OK, stupid question probably, but is the Delco 24 battery easily found, like at Pep Boys, Auto Zone or is there more to getting one than that?

I'd let Google be your friend and see who handles AC Delco batteries in your area. Shouldn't be hard to find an AC Delco battery.

You may want to work with Wayne at Battery Central Mall. Right after he sent me the message I posted on September 1st, he shipped me my battery and I had it fairly soon thereafter. Perhaps he has some pull with Jim's Batteries who is the supplier.

does anyone have links, the bat mall isn't clear what you will get and the other site not sure its a battery, no wonder a 6 plus month wait, Restoration battery had the best detail, too bad that site is down.

Before I ordered the reproduction battery, I called my local Chevrolet dealer and they called me later in the day to tell me that they had the right 24 size battery ready for me to pick up.

1960. To clarify further - I initially thought that the cost of a reproduction battery was not worth the potential point deduction vs. a normal Delco battery so I investigated the availability of a replalcement Delco battery and the local Chevrolet parts department said that they could get one. I don't know what the terminal configuration is on the dealer's battery as I canceled the order and never picked it up. I elected to spend the $$ get a more correct looking battery through BatteryCentralMall.com
