Re: Proper orientation of 62 FI distributor
Clark, I don't think there is a "NCRS standard" for this. The important thing is that the car runs right and the timing can be set correctly. I have had to move my '60 FI distributor one tooth to get it to where the timing can be set - the vacuum advance would interfere (915 distributor) but I think your '62 would not have that problem (no vacuum advance). I do not think a mechanical judge would comment unless it was noticeably different than normal. Good luck, Don H.- Top

Re: Proper orientation of 62 FI distributor
Clark, Behind on replies. Interesting thing about installing the FI distributor is this. Say your car is running perfect. If you lift the distributor up a couple of inches and put it back down in position you are one tooth off.
Not a good thing as if you are not in proper time and back fire or pop you might blow up the expensive cranking signal valve.
If you need help on distributor installation call the guru which is Don Baker. 815-498-9522. John- Top
