    C2 Advice needed

    Some advise please -
Where would you begin to search for a large group of parts to fix a damaged C2 Corvette?
I just bought a C2 that is heavily damaged. It has been off the road for 30+ years.
It is in need of a bird cage/firewall, drivers door and jamb, wind shield post, steering column and wheel, front clip, seats etc.
It is not an original drive train car so it wouldn't matter what year donor parts I could use.
The end result will be a driver Corvette.
Please let me know what you have, how much you want, and where you are located.
    Thanks in advance!

I hate to discourage your enthusiasm for resurrecting a classic and irreplaceable Corvette. However, based on your description of the state of this car I can virtually assure you that the cost of restoring it to showroom condition is going to be greater than the value of the finished product even if you do all the work yourself. Some things just die and cannot be resurrected.

In the Driveline the member David S has lots of parts. Make a phone call to him he might have everything you need. But as Joe pointed out your on a long up hill money losing battle. Also swap meets like Corvettes at Carlisle is a great place to look too

If I were you, I would look for a car that has been hit hard in back. (10% as many of those as those hit in front). Then marry the two. You still will be underwater, but it will be both rewarding and frustrating.

          Good advice...

If it were something really rare (Z06 or the like) that's one thing, but when you start into the birdcage and door jamb on a garden variety C2 it becomes a labor of love if you can afford the fixing up... It won't make economic sense I'm afraid.

Having said that, if you want to kickstart your search perhaps contact David Sokolowski - he advertises in the Driveline magazine...if he don't have "it" he prob knows who does...

Hope you are safe and healthy Joe. Are you still in Atlanta? We met many years ago in Kennesaw. I now live in Cumming. Call me sometime to discuss Corvettes.

Thanks for responding Keith....David S. is expensive (the same with EBAY, Carlisle, Lakeland Carlisle). The only way this project will work is to keep the cost down.
There are bodies, projects, abandoned restorations out there, etc. I will remain patient and see what surfaces.

I think you must be thinking of a different Joe. I have never lived in Atlanta or, even, anywhere near it. I don't think I've ever even been to Kennesaw.

There was another Joe Lucia that joined the SE chapter several years ago.. I am thinking maybe he was originally from the Pacific NW originally

Mike - thank you for replying. As one old member to another (while not as old as yours my membership is 4499) there are still many C2's projects out there. As you suggested I am hoping to find one hit in the back. I have already spoken to two people that have solid leads on a 65 and a 66. If I am not successful I will sell off the parts I do have.

Thanks for your response. You are not discouraging me at all.
There are many C2's still out there that fit my needs.
I have two to consider well under $20,000 and I am awaiting pictures and proof of ownership.
If one doesn't come through I will just sell off the parts I have.

                        Thanks for the response.
Usually the prices on used parts at Corvette Carlisle PA or Carlisle Lakeland, EBAY, etc have been marked up so high they are not cost effective.
If I am not successful I will just sell off what I have.

No one is giving away mid year parts that are not being reproduced. The prices you see is set by supply and demand.
