NOS Mufflers needing part no clarifications. I have two NOS original still in boxes 53 – 62 off road mufflers part no’s 3813533 & 34. The left side was still stapled in the box until I opened it today to take pictures. When I pulled it out of the correct 3813533 box, it had a label sticker on the pipe extension with the correct 3813533 part no. However the embossed part no. on the muffler was 3813537 and it was blacked out? I assume I have a correct left side 3813533 but have not seen or can find any info on this blacked out part no. 3813537. Also the length of the pipe between right & left are different.
Any help in clearing up this issue ? Thanks, AL

I expect the embossed part number on the muffler is the part number for the muffler, alone, which was probably never available separately in SERVICE. The part number on the tag is the part number for the complete assembly which is what was sold in SERVICE. I expect the "blackout" on the muffler was done to help "avoid confusion".

These mufflers were not available on 6 cyl Corvettes. They were all oval. So not for 53s or 54s and most 55s.

There was no optional muffler for 55 V8 Corvettes but the stock muffler was round unlike the oval mufflers for 6 cylinder Corvettes. The dimensions of the 55 muffler are 4 1/16" diameter and 24" long. They did come with a pipe attached.
