One would think that the catalytic converter would even it up, restrict it evenly, etc., I'm hearing a lot of different logic. I'm grateful for all the input but the question was posed for restoring an old muffler. The consensus states that I should perhaps get a new set, save the originals in an air tight plastic, and enjoy driving my car. When frame off restoration comes to be an issue for the car, I'll have the original parts and I can do as I see fit. Hopefully, the judges like everything afterwards.
