58 headlight bulb retainer ring screws

    58 headlight bulb retainer ring screws

    Anyone have any tips or tricks on how to get the headlight retainer rings properly screwed down. I am using the proper screws from corvette central and the screws don't seem quite long enough to screw into the headlight thing.

    Any tricks?

      Is the headlamp properly oriented in the mount cup?? There is a glass tab on the rear of the headlamp that orients the bulb in the mount cup.

          My issue isn't attaching the bulb to the mount cup. My issue is trying to install the chrome headlight retaining ring that goes over the bulbs. I am wondering if Corvette Central is selling the wrong screws for this. I saw in another post someone mentioned that the regular corvette suppliers are selling the wrong screws.

          I don't have my judging book in front of me or an AIM, can someone take a look at their headlight retaining bezels and see what the screws that hold them on look like?

          Here is the bezel I am referring to that has 4 screws per bezel to attach it over the headlight.

          These are the ones I am using from Corvette Central and they are not long enough to fully thread on.

          Another place is selling these Phillips style screws which may be longer.

          Are the screws standard slotted or Phillips style?

                      The dog headed flat head screws are for the Bulb retainer rings.
