    65-74 Small block/big block rear spring...any difference?

Looking for clarity of 65-74 small block versus big block rear spring useage. As I understand it both engine applications used the same rear spring. Would this be correct? Thanks in advance for the info.

Yes. All 1965-74 Corvettes with STANDARD suspension, regardless of engine option, received 9 leaf spring GM #3850839. All 65-74 with F-41 suspension received 7 leaf spring GM #3828811.

Joe, Is there a ride height difference between the two springs?

The 7 leaf spring will produce a ride height about 7/16" lower than the standard spring.

What is the width of the F 41 soring used in 67.? Was the F-41 used on L-68 or L-79 cars or just L-71?

I did'nt know that. Guess that would explain why my car rides a little lower than my 300 horse car and has a bit of a squat look to it. I thought maybe the spring was tired, but my half shafts are level to the ground so I wasn't sure.

Just a humble correction, 1965 it's F-40, as you know. Now, I'm going to guess the F-40 spring is the same GM part # as F-41 but I'm not sure.

While we are on the subject, since F-40 was used in both big block and small block applications in 1965, but as I understand it, F-41 was used only on big block cars in 1966 and 67, would there be a difference between F-40 and F-41 front springs?

F41 spring was same width (2_1/4") as regular suspension spring. F 41 available only on 435 hp (L88 and 89). When the L88 option was released, it was obviously available (if not mandatory) with that engine.
