    Heater Delete Plate

    Hello,

    Just wondering,the clutch head screws holding the delete cover 3740250 is shown in the AIM with the heads facing the engine comp.
    Have any orgional cars ,with heat delete plate ,ben noted with the studs facing facing the engine compartment , like the heater assembly ?

    Thanks Dana

    Dana;
    Tha 56-57 judging manual says the clutch head screws holding in the heater delete plate are inserted from inside the car. As you noted the AIM shows them inserted from the engine compartment.The airbox guys in the Queen City chapter have researched this, the results are unknown to me at this time.

      Compare your clutch head screws/studs and you should have one that is shorter than the rest. That is indicative that the threaded stud part was on the engine side (shorter one down in the corner by the starter loom). Also the heater plate inside the car is covered by the insulation material and it would make no sense to have "studs" poking through this. The one original plate that I have seen had the clutch heads inside the car with the studs poking out on the engine compartment side. Don't forget there should be sealer (that gray dum dum putty) around the whole perimeter of the block off plate and some around each clutch head screw/stud. Last but not least there was a piece of tar paper like material over the holes in the cowl where the heater hose would normally pass thru...
