    Wire harness & others

On my upcoming restoration, 71 coupe.
What is the opinion of the group on harnesses? Change it out with Lectric limited or fix and go on?
It doesnt appear to have too many issues but is cut and repaired in a few places. Fiber optics work.

    thanks!

The original harness -- at least on my 1970 -- have the fiber optics as part of the electrical harness. The replacements have separated fiber optic and electric harnesses -- or at least the ones I have seen do it that way. Check out the replacements before you make your decision.

      Hi Pete,
On my 71 I replaced only the engine/ ignition harness. It seemed to be far more deteriorated than the others. I felt this may have been because of it's proximity to the engine heat and oily atmosphere it lived in.
As you get into your restoration, I believe you'll realize that re-using an original part by 'saving' it in some way, almost always beats the reproduction part. So many reproduction parts are just not what they should be. They're usually close but not quite right.
      Regards,

If the splices are in the taped up section of the harness, repairs should be no problems. Even if they are out of the taped area, sometimes you can find a passenger car or pickup of the same era and rob a section of wire, splicing it together in the taped area.
