    Bench testing '66 wiper motor

Before reinstalling my newly refurbed wiper motor would like to bench test. As I'm sure some of you out there have been there...done that need a heads up. Plug connections are red, yellow, brown and the ground. In what order or configuration do I need to hook up for testing.....I"d guess but don't want to burn up this expensive baby! Thanks.

    Michael,

Ground the chassis of the motor to -12 (black post). Run +12 (red post) to the center lug (center of the three). This should drive the motor to park if it's not already in park. Ground -12 to the lug that would be up and this will put it in high speed. While grounding the upper lug run ground to the lower lug and the motor will go to slow speed.

To make the pump cycle just run +12 and -12 to the two lugs on the pump. Doesn't matter which one you use.

Motor has to be running for the pump to cycle.

Best of luck! Some people refer to the bench test as the SMOKE TEST!
