    C1-C2 latches

    I still see the wrong latches on C1's
    I did an article in 1982 for the SACE book showing the difference between the soft top and hard top latches
    Here is the real original short handles for all C1's and the C2's are the same design but they the C2 have longer handles (that's all) .Soft top backing is curved and the same thickness at each end// the hard top backing is tapered at one end thinner then the other end.

    Hello Roy;

    Thanks for the information.

    Are there a visual clues when sitting in the seat, looking up, to define the differences?

    Thanks again for your help.

      Roy;

      Is it possible to identify where the incorrect handles are originating from, i.e. is some one marketing incorrect repros?

      I never thought to look at mine which I changed out on both tops back in the mid-70's due to minor pitting. I believe then I got NOS, but I will compare them to my old ones (still have) to make sure. Thanks for the information.

        I did read somewhere that the Chev sedan convertibles, have a longer handle. The handle should not hit the roof lining on the Corvette. If it touches it's incorrect. It also looks like the C1's are different to the C2's in length. Stewy

          The handles are the same HT or ST but the latching geometry would be different if you use the HT latches on the ST header. ( The angle would be different) NOT GOOD and can make it hard to use.

          Looking at the latches in the Corvette you can tell a ST from a HT if you look close. The only differance as I said between the C1 and C2 is the handles C1 short while C2 long.By now I thought every one knew this?
