This a link sent to me by Jon Banner concerning early (pre1994) Multec injectors. Note that GM does not recommend cleaning or rebuilding them. They fob it off on "additives in the fule from the refinery or the consumer". Also below that are some comments from Jon.
Here is a link with a bulletin from AC Delco. (they are part of GM right?) stating that pre 94 multecs should not be cleaned or serviced. Why? because the alcohol in the solvents prematurely ruined the injectors. I have been in this business for 30+ years. There is an epidemic of multec failures. Plus GM is still selling the old stock, sure they will, and they don't care if they are going to fail, they just want them out of inventory. Some of these new injectors they are selling for over 100 each were produced almost 20 yrs ago. you are completely 100% correct. Until someone can tell me why an injector that has 14-20,000 miles use has failed I will keep on my theory. I have tested so many of these injectors and they all have the same problem. SHORTED COILS. !) yrs ago they did not. Its not age its the Alcohol.
