    Brake Drum Identification

I have two new brake drums in the old GM brown and yellow boxes. The end of the boxes read: Brake Drum Assy. Group No. 5.809 1 Part No. 3719249. Can anyone tell me what they fit? I was told they would be correct for the front of my 1960 corvette, but want to make sure! Any help?

    Thank You

    Greg,

I'm betting Mr. Lucia will be along soon to answer your question.

I don't know what your parts are, but the base drums I bought for my '59 in 1970 are part nos. 3868801.

        Re: Brake Drum Identification

        Greg,
In my '57 parts catalog the 3719249 brake drum is listed for '51-'57 passenger, Corvette, front and rear wheel.

In my '60 parts catalog the 3719249 brake drum is not listed. For '60 Corvettes without H.D. brakes the drum listed in 5.809 is 3752622 for front or rear. The exact applications listed for the 622 drum in the '60 parts book are as follows:

'51-'58 Passenger, Corvette (exc. H.D. brake/susp., metallic linings, Taxi) front & rear
'59-'60 Corvette (exc. H.D. brake/susp, metallic linings) front & rear
        58 Taxi, rear
'59-'60 Passenger, rear (exc. metallic linings)

From the parts book application info it appears the 3719249 drums will fit and function on a '60 Corvette with standard brakes but they may have external appearance differences from the 3752622 drums.

At the moment I cannot find my '59 parts catalog so I can't tell you what they listed as the service drum for Corvettes at that time.

        I hope this helps.
        Eric V.
