Only the 12 Ga. purples go through to the engine bay. The 18 Ga pair stays inside, arcs over the pedal brace and steering column assy, then connects to a two-conductor/90* female connector with an 18 pink & 18 lt. green. Mine ('66) makes this connection kind of near the parking brake shaft.

      Bill -

See section M35, sheets 5 and 6 in the 1965 Assembly Manual - shows all the routing, taping, connections, etc.

I believe there were two NSS's used in '65; a two-wire version for cars w/o the backup light option, and a four-wire version for cars with backup lights. I don't recall the part numbers, but they'd be in the '65 AIM. In '66 + '67, backup lights became standard equipment (not an option) and all switches were four-wire.

I have an NOS '66-'67 switch (#1993411) that is four wire. According to the parts book, this is service replacement for '65-'67. Since your original thread stated backup lights, I would think that the '67 AIM instructions would suffice.

engine harness i know you use the purple wires
then i have green and a gray wire could be brown i did not
            look today.
on the harness (MAIN) i have black green and a black pink
dont know if they go to the green and gray
but i saw a buddy tonight and he said he had a
1965 assembly manual so should be able to get it straighten out
for some reason i cant seem to get it in my head where it goes
