Question about '62 Dipstick point deduction

Can some one explain what "no through impression" means for my '62 corvette dipstick deduction I received during judging.

Jonathan, am guessing it means not debossed. Debossing means stamping from the front forcing the material to rise on the backside or pressing the stamping through the material. Gary....

Jonathon, Way to go on the GOLD CERTIFICATION! I spoke with you right after your car was judged. Saw your car on Saturday morning with the child seat in it, but you weren't around. Congrats!

Here's a pic of a dipstick, maybe not correct for your car, but shows an embossed patteren, NOT a stamped pattern.

I know we have bounced this around, but did we ever decide if embossed or debossed (or both) would be considered correct.

Debossed = pressed from the front so that the charatcters are sunk into the surface.

Embossed = pressed from the rear so that the characters are raised above the surface.

In both cases, if characters are obvious on the backside, which is not always the case with stamped characters.

Correct 1962 dipsticks are not hard to find.

I have a dipstick that is a known original to a 62 250 hp engine. It is debossed, not embossed. All of the markings are correct for 1962.
