69 SB Spark Plug Routing

I am in the process of changing the wires out. PITA with all the shielding but I discovered that wires for (1 & 3) and (2 & 4) are routed between the block and motor mounts. Engine needs to be lifted from the mount to clear the boots to remove wires. Mounts were changed a couple of years ago and are replacements from NAPA.

I have looked at the AIM but it hasn't helped in this situation.

Question: is this the correct routing for the wires?

Erv,
You need to CAREFULLY remove the boots from those wires and feed them underneath the mount. Then re-install the boots (a little die-electric grease will aid in this), and you will be all set. It may be easier to take the boot of the distributor end and feed them through backwards.

Did this on a 71 small block. The best way I found is to label the wires temporarly and attach a small wire with tape. Fish the wire through the engine mount and pull the wire through.place the wires in the distributor and pull off the labels. Of course it is easier to remove the shielding to make sure you have the wires in the right place and see the engine mounts. Enjoy it !

Erv,
Didn't think about it for a minute or two, but this would be a great time to make sure all of the components for proper assembly are there. Particularly the clip on the oil pan that holds these two front wires, and the clip on the side of the block that holds two wires. I often find these missing on cars that have "lost" their ignition shielding earlier in life. You may already have done this, but thought I would throw it out there.
