    Steeroids R & P power system

I'm thinking about installing Steeroids power rack and pinion system in a 65 manual steering car . Is it a good system ? What if any are the problems

    Dave -

Is there a specific problem you're hoping the Steeroids package will solve for you?

No just making the car more modern, better handling. As it is under going a complete frame up.

        Dave,
Try The Corvette forum. A lot of guys over there have modified their cars. Mostly restoration on this board.

If I were going after improved handling (which for a street driven car generally means "ride quality"), the steering box isn't the first thing I'd consider changing out. It fact, it would probably be the last thing.

I'd make sure all the suspension bushings, ball joints, tie rod ends, and wheel bearings were in new condition. I'd have a 4 wheel alignment done to specs appropriate for the tires I planned to use and the way I planned to drive. And I'd make sure the stock steering box was in good condition.

Do these things and a Sting Ray rides just fine.

A lot depends on the condition of your box. Many think the original Saginaw boxes were no good and the after market has better options, simply not true.
A correctly built box with good suspension, rag joint, and alignment will be more then most will ever need for their cars. I can tell you're not going to get a good box for $140-$180 like you can find by the dozen on those auction sites.
