    C3 headlight actuator seal question

I am going to tackle the actutor seals on a 73. There is a wealth of information in various locations on this subject. It seems like it would be much easier to pull the override and leave them in the up position. The question is should the lights be in the up or down position when removing the clevis. (e.g. is it necessary they be in a certain position)

Charles you don not have to start your car to raise the headlights. Reaching through the center grille if you can just push up on a headlight to slightly raise it and then lift it to the lock position. To release it from the up position just push down on the "elbow" area and the light will close.
I have done this many times on my 68 and 70 like when I wanted to wash the headlights and not having to start the cars just to raise them.

Yup, what Jim said. With the car off you can manually manipulate the headlight assembly as needed to remove the actuator and replace the seal. It's really no big deal. Good luck

Amazingly enough there are even pictures of this operation, and a lot of other very interesting stuff in (of all places .... drum roll, please) THE OWNER'S MANUAL.
